Obstetric and Gynecology Department

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is the Department with the highest volume of admitted patients at Nyamata District District Hospital. It has registered midwives, registered nurses, intern doctors, general practitioners, and 2 obstetricians and gynecologists Specialists. The department has (53) beds, a theater room for cesarean sections and gynecological surgeries, and one ultrasound machine for inpatients and outpatients.

The Gynecology and Obstetrics department is open 24/24 hours from Monday to Sunday and provides the following services:

  • Gynecological and obstetric consultation

  • Patient admission and registration

  • Clinical documentation

  • Medical prescription

  • Vital signs taking

  • Bed making

  • Patient bathing

  • Palliative care

  • Management of gynecological related problems

  • Surgical site infection care

  • Follow-up  of patient  with pathologies on pregnancy

  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation

  • Drug administration

  • Patient external/internal referral/transfer

  • Family planning

  • Normal delivery

  • Follow-up of patients

  • Patient discharge

  • Provide right information  to the next step of health care to be provided
